Circulation Policy
Periodicals may not be removed from the library at any time. This policy includes all faculty and staff members. Materials must be used in the library, or you may make photocopies if you wish. There will be no exceptions.
Reference materials will not leave the library unless you have the written permission of the library director, or the library staff member on duty at the time. lf you need to take a Reference book to class for illustration purposes, you may pick up the item before class, sign it out with the library staff member, and return it after class.
AV materials and equipment should be reserved ahead of time, and signed out and back in by the instructor. The library staff will not deliver equipment, or retrieve equipment unless the library will be closed at the time the instructor finishes with the equipment. In such cases, the instructor should alert the library staff member on duty, that he or she will not be able to return the equipment before closing, and where it will be located in the morning.
Students and community borrowers will be charged overdue fines of 10 cents per day for overdue items. lf the items are lost or damaged, the patron will be charged for replacement costs and processing fees for each item. If another patron has placed a Hold on an item, it may not be renewed. Faculty and staff will not be charged fines for overdue materials, but will be responsible for replacement costs and processing fees if the item is not returned within a reasonable period of time (not more than one semester.)
If a hold is placed on an item checked out to a faculty or staff member, the item would be requested to be returned.
Because of the automation system in the library, all students, faculty, staff, and community members must have a Thomas University ID card in order to check out library materials. Please do not ask to check out items without it--we can't do it.
Library Community Borrower Agreement
The following agreement is to be completed by the patron requesting resources from Thomas University Library. It may be completed online or printed for submission.
Only residents of Thomas and Grady counties who are 18 years of age and older may be allowed to borrow materials from the Thomas University Library. The person borrowing library resources is the one personally responsible for the safe return of all items in the same condition they were in when checked out to the patron.
Any and all damage incurred to the materials and/or equipment while on loan to the undersigned patron shall be the financial responsibility of that person. All resources borrowed from the Library are to be promptly returned by the patron by the agreed upon deadline.
The patron will demonstrate that he/she is familiar with the operation of all equipment before leaving the Library with the equipment. The patron agrees by signing below that he/she has read the above statements, understand their implications, and will abide by them.
